Two Rivers Community Development Centre is an Aboriginal Capital Corporation and Community Futures Development Corporation. Our mission is: “To foster the creation, maintenance and growth of Aboriginal business through the provision of financing, business development and business support services”. Background In 1990, in response to proposals from a group of community leaders, the federal government approved funding to two new non-profit organizations to address these major barriers. Six Nations Community Development Corporation received capital from the Aboriginal Business Canada program to serve businesses owned by member of Six Nations of the Grand River. Touch The Sky Business Development Centre received funding under the Community Futures program to provide loans, support services and training to businesses physically located on the two First Nations: Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation and Six Nations of the Grand River. In 1996, to improve operating efficiency, capacity and establish a foundation for growth the Boards of Directors of the two organizations decided to merge their operations into one new institution known as Two Rivers Community Development Centre. The name “Two Rivers” was selected as it symbolizes the historic importance of the Grand River and Credit River to the two First Nations. Board of
